CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels announced the addition of Emily Pollack, of Smyrna, who has signed scholarship papers.
Pollock, a 5-5 guard, initially signed a letter of intent with East Tennessee for the 2008-09 campaign. However, she was released from her letter of intent and will be eligible to play for Austin Peay in the upcoming season.
Last season, Pollack led Smyrna High School to a 28-5 mark in 2007-08 and a berth in the Class AAA State Tournament where she had five points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds in a quarterfinal loss. She averaged nine points, 3.5 assists and three steals per game while making 34 percent of her three-point field goals.
“Emily is the epitome of a true point guard,” said Daniels. “She likes to push the ball in transition and is constantly looking to create opportunities for her teammates. Emily sees the floor extremely well and is an excellent ball handler and passer. Although she doesn't look for her shot often, when left open she has the ability to knock it down. Don't let her size fool you because she is like a stick of dynamite – she is very quick and gets after it on the defensive end of the court.”
She was named to the Region 5 All-Tournament team in 2007-08. She was selected to the All-District 9AAA squad in 2006-07 and 2007-08 and was a district-all-tournament selection the past three seasons.
In addition, she is a member of Tennessee Team Pride Basketball Club which was the national runner-up in the AAU Junior Girls National Championship last summer. Pollack was one of three Team Pride players named to the AAU All-American squad with that performance.
