Looking Ahead for 2009-10: Rugged frontcourt prospect again will be counted on for effective playing time in 2009-10...expected to challenge for starting position after earning starting call in six of final eight games a year ago...extremely strong individual...aggressive performer...considered good athlete who owns reputation as strong rebounder with shot-blocker capabilities...used offseason to develop more consistent offensive game...has spent countless hours working on developing more consistent shot, including at the line...has ability to put ball on floor and attack basket.

As a redshirt freshman in 2008-09: Endured typical first season ups and downs....started 12 times, including six games down the stretch...was third only to Kyle Duncan and Wes Channels in fouls committed, fouling out three times during season...shot impressive 60 percent from floor, but made just 47.1 percent at line...didn't start season opener at Evansville but provided 20 minutes off bench in first career game, blocking three shots  while scoring first career bucket...tallied five points in 16 minutes against Ohio....scored seven points, making three of five shots while grabbing three rebounds at SEMO...battled foul problems at Louisville, being charged with four in just 10 minutes...gained first career start against Stephen F. Austin in Jim Thorpe Classic, responding with four points and a team-high six rebounds....started for second time at home against Morehead State in early January, leading team with four rebounds....played then season-high 24 minutes, finished with six points and points rebounds, at Murray State....starting in place of injured Ernest Fields, narrowly missed double-double at Tennessee State Jan. 17, finishing with career-high 10 points and nine rebounds...enjoyed strong defensive performance at home against Tennessee Tech, finishing with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots...grabbed six rebounds in loss at Eastern Kentucky...played just nine minutes in fouling out at Morehead State...also fouled out in road win at Tennessee Tech, finishing with four rebounds and three points...rejoined starting lineup Feb. 17 at Jacksonville State, starting three straight games...charged with four fouls in two of the games, limiting his minutes...one of three freshman (Anthony Campbell and Tyrone Caldwell being the others) to start at Drake in the ESPNU BracketBuster game, Feb. 21, finishing with three points and four rebounds...came off bench in OVC tourney first-round game against Eastern Illinois...pulled down five boards in game while scoring five points...as a result, earned start against Murray State in OVC finals, scoring seven points and grabbing five rebounds....returned also started both OVC tourney final contest and CollegeInsider.com tourney game against Bradley...grabbed four rebounds before fouling out against Morehead State in OVC title game.

As a freshman redshirt in 2007-08: Used redshirt to add even more strength and bulk to stout frame...added nearly 20 pounds of muscle after signing...he and fellow redshirt John Fraley spent much of 2007-08 learning system and working on improving basketball skills.

In high school: Played forward for Greg Shirley at Ocoee (Fla.) High School... four-year starter...averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game as senior...blocked 66 shots and was 55 percent field-goal shooter...selected honorable mention All-State in 2006-07...also was preseason McDonald’s All-America nominee...earned earned All-Central Florida, all-county and all-conference...participated in Florida All-Star game. In addition to his scoring and rebounding averages, he blocked 66 shots as a senior and was a 55 percent field-goal shooter.
