CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Dustin Korte, of the Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Korte shot a two-over par 218 (71-75-72) to earn medalist honors at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club South Course, last week. Korte was the top finisher by three shots in a field featuring six teams ranked in the Top 100 by Golfweek.com. It was his first career medalist honor.

The Metropolis, Ill., native led the Govs to their fourth team championships in six events this season. For his efforts, he earned Ohio Valley Conference adidas® Male Golfer of the Week, his second weekly honor this season.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior shortstop Reed Harper, of the baseball team, won OVC Player of the Week and TSWA Player of the Week honors for last week, hitting .333 with a home run, seven RBI and two stolen bases. He began the week with a two-run single at nationally-ranked Mississippi State, hit the game-winning three-run home run in Game Two against Murray State and helped the Govs cap off the sweep of the ‘Breds with a 3-for-3, two-RBI day in Game Three.
  • Freshman sprinter Breigh Jones, of the track and field team, won the 400m dash with a 56.44 mark, winning the event by more than a second-and-a-half and moving to third in the OVC in the event. She was also runner-up in the 200m dash and ran a leg of the Lady Govs meet-winning 4x400m relay team and runner-up 4x100m relay squad.
  • Junior pitcher/first baseman Lauren de Castro, of the softball team, hit .625 (10-for-16), knocking in three runs, hitting three doubles and scoring five runs in five games last week.
  • Sophomore Jovana Karac, of the women’s tennis team, went undefeated at No. 5 singles last week, defeating Southeast Missouri’s Sarah Uptmor (6-2, 6-0) and UT Martin’s Jessica Silva (6-2, 6-3) to even the Lady Govs OVC record at 3-3. She’s now won four of her last five matches.
  • Senior pitcher Casey Delgado, of the baseball team, struck out 10 batters in seven innings to take the Game Two victory against Murray State, Friday. He held the ‘Breds to two runs on four hits, and also tossed a scoreless inning of relief at nationally-ranked Mississippi State, striking out two, Monday.
