CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.-Austin Peay State University's basketball team will face the University of Missouri, a team that advanced to the Elite Eight in last spring's NCAA tournament, Dec. 27, in Columbia, Mo.
In fact, one group of Tigers will replace another. The APSU-Missouri contest replaces the Govs game at Memphis, slated for Dec. 29.
"Memphis decided to go in a different direction with their scheduling," APSU coach Dave Loos said. "It is our hope that we can renew the series in the future.
"At the same time we are fortunate to find someone like Missouri to replace them. They are a program, under Mike Anderson, that is more than just on-the-rise. They won 30 games last year and are a very talented team."
Missouri, in fact, won the Big 12 tournament championship last season and later eliminated Memphis from the NCAA tournament, claiming a 102-91 decision in the Sweet 16. Although they lost key three seniors from the 31-7 club, the
Tigers return talented point guard J.T. Tiller and a plethora of young talent. The Tigers also were 18-0 at home last season.
