Clarksville, Tenn. - Senior Anthony Campbell, of the Austin Peay State University men's basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Campbell earned his first career Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for his performance in last week's road trip, helping the Govs secure two victories. With a pair of 20-point performances over the weekend, Campbell has broken the 20-point barrier nine times in 2012-13.

The senior dropped 24 points on Eastern Illinois, Thursday, on 7-of-13 shooting and a 5-of-7 mark from three-point range. He scored 15 in the second half, including a trio of threes in the first seven minutes to build a 22-point Austin Peay lead.

Playing in front of a hometown crowd Saturday, the Edwardsville, Ill., native again shot 7-of-13 from the field against SIU Edwardsville, finishing with 21 points. He scored nine points in the Govs 13-3 run to open the second half, effectively dashing the Cougars hopes for a comeback.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman Tiasha Gray, of the women's basketball team, was named OVC Freshman of the Week after averaging 14.5 points, 4 steals and 5 assists as the Lady Govs split a pair of games against SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois. She scored a career-high 15 against SIU Edwardsville, Saturday, before leading the Lady Govs with 14 points against the Panthers, Monday.
  • Sophomore Laurel Burroughs, of the softball team, was named OVC Player of the Week after hitting .714 (5-for-7) with all five hits going for extra bases - three doubles, a triple and a home run - in Saturday's doubleheader sweep at Trevecca. She scored five runs and drove in seven, earning Austin Peay's first softball player of the week honor since
  • Freshman Breigh Jones, of the women's track and field team, jumped to the top of the OVC leaderboard in the 400m dash with a personal-best 56.63 run (converted to 55.89 due to track size) in her third-place effort at the Buckeye Tune-Up, Saturday. She leads the OVC heading into this weekend's OVC Championships. Jones also ran the first leg for the Lady Govs 4x400m relay team, which picked up the victory in Columbus.
  • Freshman Chris Horton, of the men's basketball team, became Austin Peay's leader in single-season blocked shots when he swatted his 84th shot this season, breaking Josh Lewis' record from the 2003-04 campaign. Horton won his eighth Freshman of the Week award (second-most in OVC history), averaging 13.5 points and 10 rebounds and recording his season's seventh and eighth double-doubles, against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville.
