CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senior shortstop Reed Harper, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Harper was named Most Valuable Player of last weekend’s Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament, leading the Govs to a third consecutive OVC Tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Clarksville native hit .462 (6-for-13) with a home run, two runs scored and seven RBI over three games at The Ballpark in Jackson. He kicked off the tournament with a 4-for-5, two-RBI day against Eastern Kentucky, including his 277th career hit that placed him first in Austin Peay history.

After a 1-for-4 day against Tennessee Tech, Harper’s three-run blast against Eastern Kentucky in the bottom of the first inning tied the championship game. He also extended his hitting streak to a season-high 11 games and was his third round-tripper over the last six games. The championship game also was Harper’s OVC-record 233rd career start.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
