CLARKSVILLE – With opening night for Austin Peay basketball mere days away, the athletics department is excited to invite the campus and community to Friday’s Basketball Peay Premiere Event, 7:30 p.m., at the Dunn Center to introduce your 2013-14 Govs and Lady Govs basketball teams.
The event will begin in the Dunn Center lobby, giving fans the opportunity to meet the players and coaches, who will be signing autographs and posing for photos. Wendy’s, an official Austin Peay sponsor, will provide free chili for the event, and concessions also will be available.
Following the conclusion of the Austin Peay volleyball match, which begins at 6 p.m., the event moves into the gym area for team introductions. Head coaches Dave Loos and Carrie Daniels will introduce their squads, and fans will be treated to their first looks at the 2013-14 introduction videos for the men and women’s teams, which will play on the Dunn Center’s newly-installed video board.
After introducing the 2013-14 squads, players will pair off for a shooting competition; one men’s player and one women’s player will comprise a team, with two groups competing against one. The Austin Peay cheer and pom squads also will perform.
The Peay Basketball Premiere is free and open to the public and kicks off a November slate featuring eight home basketball events. The women host Martin Methodist at 2 p.m., Sunday, for an exhibition contest, while the men host Central Missouri for a 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4 tip-off. The Govs’ regular season gets underway 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, against Oakland City.
