GULF SHORES, Ala. – Wrapping up its fall season, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team is set to participate in the 2013 UAB Fall Beach Blast, Monday and Tuesday, at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.

The 36-hole event, to be played at the Marsh/Lakes, will feature 11 teams, including host UAB and Memphis along with Ohio Valley Conference foe Belmont.

The Lady Govs will feature a lineup of two seniors (Rachel Deaton and Tala Mumford), a sophomore (Jessica Cathey) and two freshmen (Amber Bosworth and Morgan Gardner). APSU seeks stark improvement after last week’s 15th-place finish at Middle Tennessee.

“We are excited to go play the Peninsula,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “We have some experience on the course and the girls love to play there.

“We will look for our upperclassmen to lead us but need our freshman to have a good finish before we go into the offseason.  To be successful we will need to stay focused and not make mental errors.”
