PADUCAH, Ky. – Sophomore Alison Carre, of the Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team, has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference all-conference second-team, announced at the annual awards banquet prior to the OVC Tennis Tournament, Thursday.
Carre was 9-11 at No. 1 singles during the dual season and 13-12 overall. She teamed with Vanessa Tavares for an 11-6 doubles mark, primarily at No. 2 doubles. The pair is 7-3 in their last 10 matches.
“She’s had a number of nice wins at the No. 1 spot,” said head coach Ross Brown. “She’s done a good job and thoroughly deserves this honor.”
Carre was on a tear down the stretch, winning four of her last six matches to close out the regular season. She also won six of seven matches from Feb. 23-March 19.
The native of France was a first-team all-conference honoree in 2012. This year, she led the Lady Govs back from a disastrous 1-7 start to earn the No. 5 seed at this weekend’s OVC Tournament at the Heflin Tennis Center.
Carre and the Lady Govs begin the OVC Tournament against Eastern Illinois, 10 a.m., Friday.
