CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University men's tennis team puts its six-match win streak on the line when it opens Ohio Valley Conference play against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. The Govs host the Colonels, 1 p.m., Saturday, before the Eagles come to Clarksville for a 2 p.m., Sunday, matchup. Saturday's match will be held at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts, with Sunday's scheduled to move inside the Governors Tennis Center.
Led by senior Sean Bailey, who took home the conference's first Player of the Week honor for 2013 on Tuesday, the Govs haven't suffered a loss at home since Feb. 2 against Southern Illinois. The Govs were picked to finish first in the OVC in the preseason poll and seek to get off to a good start with a strong opening weekend.
The Colonels enter the weekend at 5-10 overall and on a four-match losing streak. Eastern Kentucky has played a tough non-conference schedule, with losses to ITA-ranked foes Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Samford and Tennessee accounting for half its defeats.
Morehead State is 3-5, but has won two of its last three matches, against Charleston (W. Va.) and Western Kentucky. Junior Ji Hoon Heo, the Eagles No. 1 player, is 4-4 during the spring dual season.
