For the Lady Govs (5-11, 2-1 OVC), it will be their third match in four days as they are fresh off weekend matches against Southeast Missouri and UT martin. Austin Peay's women have a Thursday match against Murray State also slated this week.
Depth has been the primary concern of head coach Malik Tabet, especially as OVC play heats up over the next two weeks. Senior Vanja Tomic has been on fire at No. 1 singles, having won 14 straight matches, and Ornella Di Salvo has won four of her last five at No. 2 singles. The missing piece for the Lady Govs continues to be the bottom three singles positions, where they are 3-6 in OVC play.
Eastern Illinois has a 5-7 overall record along with a 1-1 league mark, after falling to Jacksonville State and then getting a win against Tennessee State. Janelle Prisner brings a four-match win streak at No. 1 singles while Merritt Whitley also has a four match streak at No. 2 singles. Prisner and Whitley also are 8-4 overall at No. 1 doubles.
Murray State also has a 2-0 OVC record, with wins against SIU Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri. The Racers have been fairly consistent with Cassidy Cunitz at No. 1 singles, Ashley Canty at No. 2, Jordana Klein at No. 3 and Ashley Pierson at No. 6 all with 6-6 records. Carla Suga is 7-5 at No. 4 and Carolyn Huerth is 5-7 at No. 5. Murray State is 5-1 in league play on the doubles side.
