MURFREESBORO. Tenn. - Austin Peay State University women's tennis team lost, 6-1, at Middle Tennessee, Tuesday as it renewed a rivalry with the former Ohio Valley Conference member.

The Lady Govs fell to 4-10 overall and return to OVC action, Saturday, at Southeast Missouri, with this match serving as the season's final non-conference showing. Middle Tennessee improved to 9-4 overall.

Senior Vanja Tomic won Austin Peay's only match, extending her current win streak to 12 matches. Tomic led wire-to-wire in handing Yuri Nomoto a straight-set loss. The Lady Govs dropped the remaining five singles matches in straight sets, with sophomore Andra Cornea forcing a second-set tiebreak at No. 4.

Middle Tennessee won all three doubles matches, building a momentum that would carry into singles play. Freshman Ornella Di Salvo and Cornea had Austin Peay's closest doubles score in an 8-4 loss at No. 2.
