NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Senior running back Ryan White and junior center Tim Schmid have been named preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference in a vote of conference coaches and sports information directors.

That was announced Monday at Ohio Valley Conference Media Day at the Holiday Inn Nashville.

White, a first-team All-OVC selection in 2009, rushed for 769 yards on 156 carries (4.9 ypr) a year ago after rushing for 1,081 yards in 2009. In fact, the Nashville native enters the season with 2,450 career rushing yards, ranking him fifth all time in APSU history.

Helping White find the holes is Schmid, a 6-3, 323 Nashville native who begins his third season as starting center. After sitting behind Travis Dumke in 2008 as a redshirt, Schmid moved into the starting lineup in the first game of 2009 and has been the starter ever since. He has anchored an offensive line that has helped produced one of the OVC's top rushing games over the last two seasons.

Also announced Monday was the OVC predicted order of finish. The Governors were picked to finish ninth by the coaches and the SIDs.

Jacksonville State was picked to win the league, gaining 13 first-place votes and totaling 123 points. Murray State, which finished fourth a year ago, was picked to finish second, gaining four first-place votes and 106 points.

Longtime league power Eastern Kentucky was picked third (93) while defending champ Southeast Missouri, which also had the only other first-place vote, was picked fourth (81 points). Tennessee Tech (73), UT Martin (64 points), Eastern Illinois (57 points), Tennessee State (33) and the Govs (18) rounded out the predicted order of finish.

Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while Tennessee linebacker Rico Council and Jacksonville State defensive lineman Monte Lewis were named Preseason Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
