DAVIDSON, S.C. - Junior placekicker Stephen Stansell has been placed on the 2011 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Placekicker Watch List.
The Athens, Tenn. native, who also is a Fred Mitchell Award Outstanding Place-Kicker nominee, is coming off a strong sophomore season. He finished 2010 converting 12 of 18 field-goal attempts, including a trio of 50-yard or better boots. In fact, he was the first APSU kicker to boot three 50 yarders in a single season.
Stansell played a key role in APSU's win at Tennessee State, going a perfect four-for-four on field goals tries, including his season's first 50 yarder right before half. He was named Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week for his efforts along with CFPA Place-Kicker Co-Performer of the Week.
Stansell has kicked 21 field goals in his two season career, already ranking him third all-time in field goals made in Governors history.
