Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior defender Shelby Olszewski, of Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Olszewski scored in both Lady Gov matches at the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, earning all-tournament honors after leading the sixth-seeded Lady Govs to the semifinals. She finished the season with six goals, the most by a predominantly defense-oriented player in Austin Peay history.

The Pickerington, Ohio native headed home the game-winner for Austin Peay in the 86th minute in a thrilling first-round victory against third-seeded Southeast Missouri. She also scored the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute against eventual tournament champion Morehead State in Friday’s semifinal.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray, of the women’s basketball team, scored a game-high 22 points – a career-high – and added seven assists in the Lady Govs season-opening loss at Western Kentucky, Saturday.
  • Sophomore center Chris Horton, of the men’s basketball team, pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds and added 10 points for his seventh career double-double and added three blocked shots in the Govs 84-69 victory in the season-opener against Oakland City.
  • Senior outside hitter Lauren Henderson, of the volleyball team, had double-digit kills in all three Lady Gov matches last week. She led the squad with 11 kills in a non-conference tilt against Middle Tennessee and 10 kills against Southeast Missouri and added 10 kills and six blocks against UT Martin.
