CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senior shortstop Reed Harper, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Harper was named Most Valuable Player of last weekend’s Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament, leading the Govs to a third consecutive OVC Tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The Clarksville native hit .462 (6-for-13) with a home run, two runs scored and seven RBI over three games at The Ballpark in Jackson. He kicked off the tournament with a 4-for-5, two-RBI day against Eastern Kentucky, including his 277th career hit that placed him first in Austin Peay history.
After a 1-for-4 day against Tennessee Tech, Harper’s three-run blast against Eastern Kentucky in the bottom of the first inning tied the championship game. He also extended his hitting streak to a season-high 11 games and was his third round-tripper over the last six games. The championship game also was Harper’s OVC-record 233rd career start.

- Freshman sprinter Breigh Jones, of the women’s track and field team, advanced to the quarterfinals at the NCAA East Preliminary round in the 400m dash. She ran a school-record 53.75 in the opening round to qualify 22nd before following it up with another sub-54 second run (53.91) in the quarterfinals.
- Junior infielder Jordan Hankins, of the baseball team, hit .428 (6-for-14) with two doubles, five runs scored and six RBI on his way to all-tournament honors at the OVC Tournament. He drove in the game-winning run for the Govs in the second inning of the championship game against Eastern Kentucky.
