Junior second baseman Jordan Hankins has had a busy nine months. The Wentzville, Mo., native was a first-team All-OVC selection, named to the ABCA's All-South second-team, an OVC All-Tournament pick, named the Eugene All-Region team and most notably picked to play for the 2012 Team USA Collegiate National Team.

Hankins added to his plethora of honors by being picked the No. 90 player in the country by CollegeBaseballDaily.com, Monday. Sure, No. 90 doesn't sound awe-inspiring until you do the math. Last season there were 291 Division I baseball teams, each of those teams can carry a 35-man roster. That equals a maximum 10,185 Division I baseball players at this moment. That puts Jordan in the top one percent - actually he's in the top 0.9 percent, but who's counting - of college baseball players.

This fall, Hankins has played a little second base, a little third base, just filling in where the Govs need a body for right now. He hasn't been so generous to the Govs pitchers during the current Red-White World Series, batting .444 with two doubles and three RBI in three games.

By the way baseball fans... as of Nov. 6 the Govs regular-season opener is in exactly 100 days. Can you smell the freshly cut grass yet?
