LetsGoPeay.com will follow the progress of its 11 former Governors who are currently playing professionally throughout the summer. The next update will come just before the Major League's Septemeber roster expansion.

Governors in the Majors:

LHP George Sherrill (Los Angeles Dodgers)
It's been an up-and-down season for Sherrill who has been battling mechanical issues with his throwing motion. He picked up his season's first victory against the New York Mets, July 24, tossing a scoreless 13th inning before James Loney's walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame. He now has made 39 appearances in Los Angeles, recording 22.2 innings pitched. However, he has a 7.15 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season.

RHP Shawn Kelley (Seattle Mariners)
Kelley wenton the disabled list (elbow inflammation) retroactively to June 16. He began his return to major league duty with a throwing program, July 9, and threw his first bullpen session, July 21. He was scheduled for his first full bullpen session, July 27. Prior to landing on the DL, Kelley had compiled a 3-1 record and 3.96 ERA in 22 appearances. He had struck out 26 in 25 innings.

Governors in the Minors:

C A.J. Ellis (Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes/Los Angeles Dodgers)
Ellis saw his recent stint in with the Dodgers end July 21 as he was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque and veteran catcher Brad Ausmus was activated from the 60-Day disabled list. Prior to being reassigned, he caught on three consecutive outings against St. Louis, including starts on back-to-back days. Ellis  closed out his latest stay with the parent club with a 1-for-4 outing, July 18. He also posted his first walk-off hit, an RBI single against Atlanta, June 6. He appeared in 19 games and posted a .204 batting averaged and .286 on-base percentage (six walks), with eight RBI. Ellis has made three appearances for Albuquerque since returning and is 2-for-9 with a double, triple and two RBI.

LHP Matt Reynolds (Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox/Colorado Rockies)
Reynolds was selected to pitch in the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game and recorded the final out for the Pacific Coast League, which lost the game 2-1, July 14, in Allentown, Pa. After starting the season by tossing 18.2 consecutive scoreless innings, he continues to enjoy an impressive season in Triple-A with 58 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. His 43 appearances are tied for the Pacific Coast League lead and his 10.72 strikeouts per nine innings also leads the league.

RHP Rowdy Hardy (Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals/Kansas City Royals)
Hardy continues his role in middle relief at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, making the occasional long relief appearance. His last two outings have lasted three innings or longer, including 4.1 innings of relief work against Springfield, July 25. Hardy has made 26 relief appearances this season, totalling 52.1 innings, and has compiled a 2-1 record and 4.64 ERA.

RHP Ben Wilshire (Advanced-A San Jose Giants/San Francisco Giants)
Wilshire has made 24 appearance at Adavanced-A San Jose, throwing 41.1 innings and striking out 36. He has one save and a 5.01 ERA this season. He has made five appearances in July, striking out eight in 10.1 innings with a 2.61 ERA.

RHP Daniel Tenholder (Class-A Vancouver Canadians/Oakland Athletics)
After spending the season's first half in extended spring training, Tenholder was assigned to the Vancouver Canadians, a member of the Short Season Northwest League. He got off to a rocky start, allowing five earned runs in his first 8.1 innings. He has since settled down, allowing just two earned runs in his last 15.1 innings, lowering his ERA to 3.04. He has 25 strikeouts and eight walks in 23.2 innings over 13 appearances.

RHP Zach Gerler (Rookie GCL Nationals/Washington Nationals)
Gerler has seven appearances under his belt since being assigned to the Nationals' Gulf Coast League affiliate, July 21. He suffered through a sub-par outing against the GCL Cardinals, July 26, in which he surrendered four earned runs in 2.1 innings. Gerler's ERA ballooned to 5.79 following that appearance.

LHP Stephen Huff (Rookie Great Fall Voyagers/Chicago White Sox)
Huff has settled in to his middle relief role with the Great Falls Voyagers, and has not allowed an earned run in his last three appearances, striking out five. He has made five appearances total, and is carrying a 4.50 ERA with seven strikeouts in six innings. His eight walks surrendered are skewed by a five-walk outing in his second professional appearance.

C Trey Lucas (Rookie GCL Red Sox/Boston Red Sox)
Lucas has made four appearances for the Red Sox' Gulf Coast League affiliate and is 0-for-2 at the plate, including being hit by a pitch in his first professional plate appearance, July 2.

RHP Ricky Marshall (Rookie Bristol White Sox/Chicago White Sox)
Marshall was assigned to the Appalachian League and has made five appearances, all in relief, for the Bristol White Sox. He has shown flashes of his potential, striking out all three batters he faced, July 21, at Greeneville. Marshall has struck out seven in his 6.1 innings pitched. However, his 7.71 ERA is skewed by three earned runs allowed in one innings in his second professional appearance.
